The Inspiration for our Palm Springs Tee
In the Shadow of Mount San Jacinto, the first Palm Springs Road Races held in 1951 thrilled locals and visitors, showcasing some of the fastest, most beautiful sports cars made. The film shot by John McClure, a member of the San Diego Jr. Chamber of Commerce and sports car fan and driver.
Subsequent races featured some of the greatest drivers to compete in the sport of racing. Held annually at the Palm Springs airport on a track approximately 3 miles long, the races attracted celebrities such as James Dean and Clark Gable, who were drawn to the powerful roar of an engine complemented by the warm sunshine and glistening palms of Palm Springs.

Shelby will introduce its most powerful Shelby yet, the 2012 Shelby 1000, on April 5, 2012, at the New York International Auto Show. Carroll Shelby and his team created the Shelby 1000 by starting with a 2012 Ford Shelby GT500 and kicking its handling, horsepower and braking to the performance edge. The Shelby 1000 will be offered in both a street and a Shelby 1000 S/C “off-road” track version. The street legal, pump gas version dyno’s out at approximately 950 HP, while the track oriented S/C edition is rated at over 1,100 HP.

Gaydon – Aston Martin Racing will embark upon an exciting new challenge in 2012 as it prepares to make a return to international GT motorsport in the FIA World Endurance Championship. The team will campaign a V8-powered Vantage in the GTE Pro category of the eight round series, which spans three continents.
